Last night my 65 lb dog got into a 10 lb box of medium milk bone biscits, eating what I would estimate to be 20 or so. She now (this morning) is very, very thirsty, and farting constantly, but she also looks really bloated and sometimes shakes so bad that her teeth chatter. I assume that she just ate too much. Is there any danger in her having that many in one sitting and is there anything I can do or give her to help her out?

It can be dangerous when your dog gorges himself on food. The rick is that their stomach can bloat up with gas and food then twist around in the abdomen. When the stomach twists, the blood vessels are squeezed shut, preventing blood flow to the stomach and intestines. Withing a few hours, the affected portion of the gut can start to die and even rupture. Unfortunatetly, a dog can die from this condition fairly quickly once the twisting sets in. It is important to check the color of your dogs gum to be sure they are pink - this indicated good blow flow. If your dog becomes very lethargic or collapses, they need to be seen by a vet immediately! If your dog's gums are pink, they best way to proceed is not the feed your dog for about 12 to 24 hours to let all those dog biscuits time to pass through the GI tract. Don't let you dog drink bowl after bowl of water or exercise while he is bloated because this may lead to stomach twisting.
